TMSS FALL CAREER FAIR AND OPEN HOUSE

TMSS students in grades 9-12 will attend a one-hour afternoon session. Each afternoon session will begin with the members of SUTIL providing brief overviews of their post-secondary institutions and then students will tour around to all the booths. Some booths may be situated in the student lounge as well. Most presenters have information, treats and “merch” available for students to take. The evening session is strictly tradeshow fashion (no introductions). We like to offer the evening for families to attend and ask more specific questions.

Our TMSS School Picture day will be held on Wednesday, September 25, with Retakes on October 24.

Running Club with Mr. Kubat meets every Monday and Wednesday morning at the TMSS football field at 8:00am-8:45.  All students grades 6-12 are welcome!  No signup required.

5. Registration Forms must be completed online at

TMSS Tornado Football is headed to PROVINCIALS!! For the first time in 43 years, our Tornados have earned the opportunity to take the title!  At 1pm on Saturday, November 9th our team will take on the MUCC Comets in Melfort.  GO TORNADOS!!!

The Booster Club has organized a Team Send Off to take place after the team breakfast on Saturday. At 10:15am Families, friends and community members can begin parking/ lining up at the old 711 and continuing west along both sides of the road. The team leaves at 10:30 sharp, and will be escorted out of town by emergency response vehicles. We encourage everyone to make posters, honk, cheer, and just show your support to the Tornados as they leave to go to Melfort for the big game!

MUCC will have a concession available, see attached poster for prices.

Dear Students and Staff,

Foods 30 & the SRC are busy planning the Eighteenth Annual TMSS Christmas Dinner to be held on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20 at 12 p.m. This is a regular school day with regular classes and attendance is mandatory.

We are asking students and staff to either donate food items for the banquet or to pay $15 to defray the cost of the meal (one food item per person or $15 per person). If you would prefer to bring your own bag lunch to the dinner due to allergies, etc. that’s fine. Please bring your own water bottle if you wish to have something to drink. Payment can be made through the online payment portal or by cash or cheque at the TMSS office (cheques made out to NESD #200).

Please fill in the google form using the link for each student in your household. If your student is absent (please confirm in Edsby), paying or needing a chair you will indicate that all on the Google Form. If you are donating food, indicate that on the google form and then simply select items in the Sign-Up Genius form by using the link.

We also need parent volunteers to help with the meal doing such jobs as: making salads, cooking perogies, plating desserts, slicing turkeys, washing dishes, etc. You can volunteer for any amount of time between 8am and 3pm. You can select that you are able to volunteer on the google form or on the Sign Up Genius and then Mrs. Lee will contact you about your availability or you can email her.

All leftovers from the dinner are packaged and distributed with the Salvation Army Hampers.

SRC - Christmas Food Hamper Bingo!

The SRC is inviting MY and HS first period classes to help fill classroom food hampers that will be donated to our local Salvation Army. Each first period class will be given a bingo card to fill in.  Classes are welcome to fill more than one food hamper box! HS classes and MY classes will compete, and the winner gets to give Mrs. Segovia a pie in the face on December 20!

Apprentice Mechanic - Tisdale Transportation 

The North East School Division, a progressive, thriving, community-based school division, is currently seeking motivated individual interested in an apprenticeship opportunity in Tisdale with duties to commence as soon as can be mutually agreed upon. 
Hours of work will be Monday to Friday - 8 hours/day.

The Apprentice Mechanic provides the hands-on and technical expertise in the maintenance and repair of a variety of gasoline and diesel powered school buses and other school division vehicles.

Responsibilities and Duties
Under the direction of the Mechanic Foreman you will be working with Journeyperson Mechanics to learn and assist with:

• safety and repair of school buses within the fleet.
• preventative maintenance program for all division-owned vehicles.
• troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on all fleet vehicles.
• work orders, 
• parts inventory when required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Grade 12 diploma from a provincially recognized institution or equivalent.
• Mechanically inclined and possess a second, third or fourth year apprenticeship certificate.  We will also accept candidates who have completed mechanical pre-employment training and looking to start their apprenticeship program.
• A willingness to understand legislative and regulatory requirements for the safe operation of both a fleet, and repair facility.
• Proficiency in the operation of computers, word processing, diagnostic applications and additional software used by the school division.
• Valid class 5 Driver's License.

Yesterday a bus driver and 27 of our Tisdale Middle and Secondary students were involved in a school bus accident that occurred shortly after school near Kinistin. Some were airlifted for medical attention, and we were informed that some have serious injuries.  For further details, please see the RCMP statement released later today.

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all the emergency responders and health practitioners for their quick response and care to all those involved. On behalf of all of us at NESD we are sending our healing thoughts and wishes for a quick recovery to those involved.

Dear NESD Families,

We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to provide an update to the September bussing communication we shared regarding the ongoing challenges with school bus services.

Transportation Services at the North East School Division continues to face challenges, which lead to many temporary cancellations of bus routes. Reliable transportation is a critical need for many families, and we acknowledge the many disruptions that have impacted your daily routines, and we sincerely apologize for the hardships you’ve experienced.

As you may be aware, the primary cause of the route cancellations has been a shortage of mechanics—a challenge impacting industries province-wide. We are pleased to share that additional mechanics have recently joined our team. Furthermore, we are increasing our reliance on third-party shops to ensure buses are maintained all while meeting all safety standards. In addition, to support our fleet, we have accelerated our next order of new buses.

The bus driver shortage continues to be another concern. We remain committed to exploring new strategies and solutions to improve staffing and service levels to add to our existing strategies, such as our current employee recruitment referral bonus.

We recognize the significant impact these challenges have on families, and we are continuously working to improve our service and resolve issues more quickly. Please know that student safety and well-being remain our highest priorities, while making every effort to minimize disruptions.

Notice of Intent to Change School Attendance Area Boundaries

Under authority of Section 85(1)(i) and Section 122(1) of The Education Act, 1995 the Board of Education made the following motion at their meeting held September 17, 2024:

Yesterday a bus driver and 27 of our Tisdale Middle and Secondary students were involved in a school bus accident that occurred shortly after school near Kinistin. Some were airlifted for medical attention, and we were informed that some have serious injuries.  For further details, please see the RCMP statement released later today.

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all the emergency responders and health practitioners for their quick response and care to all those involved. On behalf of all of us at NESD we are sending our healing thoughts and wishes for a quick recovery to those involved.
