TMSS Student Led Conferences are being held on October 14 & 15.  Parents and caregivers can sign up to meet with their student's teachers through Edsby, by emailing the teacher directly, or by calling the school at (306) 873-2352.

Our TMSS School Community Council has organized an online signup for those willing to provide supper for our hard working teachers on the evenings of SLC's. They are looking for some families/community members to help by bringing soup or chili, buns, and cookies. Items will need to be delivered to TMSS by the end of the school day on the day you have signed up for (and pick up slow cookers at end of evening if possible).

Notice - Star City School Closure

At the September 22, 2026 meeting the North East School Division Board of Education made the decision to close Star City School effective July 2, 2027.

The decision was made by the Board in accordance with section 54 of The School Division Administration Regulations. The authority and responsibility for the decision to close the school rests with the Board of Education.

In making its decision, the Board considered several factors related to the long-term viability of Star City School, including:

Star City School currently serves 16 students with two multi-grade classrooms.  The K- 6 school is projected to have only 15 students next school year. Low enrolment means some students have few or no same-age peers, limiting opportunities for friendships, collaborative learning, extracurricular participation, and age-specific social development.

The Board also considered the long-term sustainability of the school. Based on the most recent school cost analysis, operating costs at Star City School were approximately $21,465 per student, compared with approximately $9860 per student in Tisdale and Melfort Elementary Schools.

Over the coming months, NESD Administration will work in consultation with the Star City School Community Council and engage affected students, families and staff in developing a transition plan. The plan will support students transitioning to schools in Tisdale and Melfort for the 2027–28 school year and will include opportunities for students and families to become familiar with their receiving schools.

The Board recognizes that the closure of a community school is significant for students, families, staff and the broader community. NESD is committed to supporting students and families throughout the transition and to providing clear information as planning progresses.

Board Motion:

That, pursuant to section 54 of The School Division Administration Regulations and having received the consent and recommendation of the Star City School Community Council, the Board of Education of the North East School Division No. 200 approves the closure of Star City School, to be closed effective July 2, 2027.
